TUMBLR FACEBOOK Round two of the suede steampunk aviator hats I created last year
It evolved from the idea of Catwoman's leather cap, and imagining how that would look in a steampunk universe. The idea just went from there, becoming a suedecloth cap (because while I like leather, I like suede even more, and suedecloth is washable) with minky lining (because minky is amazingly soft), and painted side panels so I could introduce more design elements to the whole deal. I also tried out different colors and different animal ears for variety and fun.
This one features squid motifs (painted in gold) on each side, and a headflap

I agree, suedecloth is so much better than leather or suede for something like this, simply because it can be washed, and it isn't such a pain in the butt to sew with too!
